A 40-ton young southern wright whale leapt out of the water and took out a yacht off the coast of South Africa this past Sunday, MSNBC reports.

"We were watching the whale flipping it's tail for about half an hour," said Cape Town Sailing Academy Administrator Paloma Werner, who was enjoying a Sunday sail with her boyfriend Ralph Mothes.

According to witnesses, the modern-day Moby surfaced on top of the yacht and broke the steel mast.

"All I heard him say was 'Oh sh*&' and I saw the whale come out of the water and crash against the mast of the boat," said Werner.
