Chile Gets Dumped On as Ski Season Opens

There's not much great snow up here, but there's plenty of it in the Southern Hemisphere. According to reports from Ski Portillo, in Chile, 16 inches fell last night on top of a six-foot base. The skiing is sure to be stellar, and the hot tubs will be a perfect compliment.

Ski Portillo begins filling lifts this weekend, and El Colorado and Valle Nevado resorts are already open for business. Check out snow reports in coming weeks to see what else opens up.
