Outside Magazine

Jordan Romero and the rest of his team acquired their Chinese visas earlier today, according to Jordan's website. The team is set to leave Kathmandu for Tibet this weekend. Once in China, the team will spend five days on the road to reach the north side base camp. To hear a phlog (phone blog) from Team Romero, click on the player above. If you prefer to follow the link and read a transcript you'll need this handy translation guide:

• Kenneth(?) Mando(?) = Kathmandu

• Chatmando(?) = Kathmandu

• Burnett = Tibet

• and Jim Lang = jet lag.

Jordan is planning a May summit. If successful, he will be the youngest to summit Everest and the youngest to complete the Seven Summits. For more on Jordan, read our April feature, "Into Teen Air".
