IMGP0862Hate burning through batteries on your cell phone? Petzl has a sweet looking new headlamp in the works that has a rechargeable battery. I haven't tried it, since it's a prototype, but what separates it from other rechargeable headlamps on the market is you can swap out the lithium polymer battery (like the one in IMGP0861your cell phone) and pop in batteries if your headlamp dies in the backcountry. The fact that it’s rechargeable will save you buying hundreds of batteries over the life of the headlamp. Bonus: It has a battery life indicator. And you can power it up via your USB, which is sweet. New for Fall 2010. —JUSTIN NYBERG
