In honor of Jonny Copp, Micah Dash, and Wade Johnson, who died in an avalanche in China last spring, Black Diamond, La Sportiva, Mountain Hardwear, and Patagonia have teamed up to create the Copp-Dash Inspire Award, Climbing reports. The American Alpine Club will administer this new grant program, which will fund climbers who propose bold expeditions in remote mountains and who will tell the story of their journey via print, video, photos, and other media. There is $20,000 available in 2010 and early 2011, and applications for the grant are due March 31.
