Waimea Swell for Eddie Aikau

Quiksilver's Eddie Aikau contest, the only big-wave event of the ASP Tour, is gearing up for what looks to be a day of major swells. Tom Carroll, a two-time world champion, has already fallen victim to a big wave after he dropped in and got hit hard by whitewater. He dislocated his ankle and will not be surfing again the rest of the year. The event runs through February 28 at Waimea Bay, with invitees that include Kelly Slater and Andy and Bruce Irons. You can watch live at Quiksilver.com/Eddie.
