Fastest Marathon Ever Ran On U.S. Soil

Beijing Olympic Marathon gold medalist, Sammy Wanjiru of Kenya, claimed the fastest marathon ever run on U.S. soil after winning the 2009 Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday, according to Cool Running, with a time of 2 hours, 5 minutes, 41 seconds.

He beat Khalid Khannouchi's old record of 2:05:42 by one second.
