World Airlines to Cut Emissions by 50%

The International Air Transport Association announced their commitment on Saturday to stabilize carbon emissions by 2020 as well as reduce airplane carbon emissions by 50% by 2050. Treehugger writes that the IATA is also pushing for further support from the government concerning air traffic management as well as the transition to biofuels.  While aviation emissions only account for 3% of emissions from the global transport section, they have a higher warming potential.  Read more about the switch to biofuels here.
