A fish-eye view of Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

Photographer Paolo Marchesi captured candid portraits of Aymara Indians and scenic shots of the Bolivian Altiplano for the June 2008 feature "Because It's There. (Sort Of)." All while following writer Mckenzie Funk and a confluence hunter on an epic quest up a 17,000 foot remote volcano to bag an invisible prize—the highest GPS point in the western hemisphere where latitude and longitude lines intersect.
