Ear to the Ground

"By passing this bill, the House of Representatives has recognized that we can protect dolphins and all other creatures that live in our oceans."

-Robert Irvin of the Center for Marine Conservation, on a proposed law-also backed by Greenpeace, the Environmental Defense Fund, and the Clinton White House but opposed by the Sierra Club and referred to by Earth Island Institute as the "dolphin death bill"-that would allow tuna caught in controversial purse seine nets to be labeled dolphin-safe.
