Dyson DC31 Animal Vacuum

I've never been one to get worked up about housework. Carbon fiber, the latest Bluetooth gadget, anything that can make something else explode—sure. But this year, and this is a little embarrassing, I'm coveting a vacuum. First, it's because my two Labradors put out a new layer of carpet weekly. Second, it's the manliest vacuum of all time. Dyson's DC31 Animal ($265; is a handheld that feels like an 18-volt DeWalt drill but is as powerful as most stand-up models. It comes with a trigger, not a button, and a motorized spinning brush attachment to lift hair out of carpets, upholstery, and my truck's floor mats. It can eat a whole room's worth of fur before you have to empty it. Lately, I've found myself cleaning just for the hell of it.
