Gerard Butler Relives Hold-Down at Maverick's

On December 20, actor Gerard Butler was held down by a set of 10-12 foot waves at Maverick's. He was out surfing the break with Greg Long, Peter Mel, and Zach Wormhoudt for a scene in the new movie Of Men and Maverick's—about the life and death of surfer Jay Moriarty. He went under and was submerged for almost a minute, as he relates during this clip on The Grahm Norton Show.

Retelling the story clearly shook him up.

"Oh my God, I'm re-living this right now," he said after Norton asked him how long he was under.
