Best Place to Learn How to Ski

Buttermilk at Aspen, Colorado

A hop, skip, and off-the-lip jump from Aspen Mountain, Buttermilk draws about 1,000 first-timers each season, including, as you might imagine, various people from the greater Beverly Hills area. The snowboard school prides itself on getting students off the bunny slope and onto Buttermilk's 410 acres of gullies, rolls, and compressions faster than other schools. In fact, it guarantees you'll be a fully functioning shredder in three days or less. "If Axl Rose could do it," says Mike Kaplan, who heads up Buttermilk's ski and snowboard schools, "don't you suppose you can?"
