Yesterday morning, a few Silverton Mountain patrollers had the mountain all to themselves for the first turns of the 2014-2015 season. At 13,487 feet, Silverton is the highest elevation ski area in North America, and just days ago it was blanketed in two feet of fresh powder from early season storms. Though the official season isn't set to open until December 20, that date could change if these conditions continue.
