We were nearing the end of a stellar week up at Valhalla Mountain Touring in the Kootenays, BC which is owned and operated by Jasmin Caton and Evan Stevens. The lodge has been in their family for a couple generations and it is stacked with skiing in all directions. Over the course of the week 4+ feet fell giving us ideal conditions everyday. I set my camera up on a tripod and ran away from the camera in hopes of having that red glare show up instead of just the white head beam. December of 2012.    Photo: Garrett Grove

Valhalla Mountain Touring, family-owned for multiple generations., offers access to world-class skiing in every direction and enough variety to keep clients happy for weeks. Over the course of my week-long trip, we were blessed with more than four feet of fresh snow and had nearly perfect conditions every day.

I wanted to do something different and capture the lodge at night, so I set my camera up on a tripod for long exposures. For this shot, I ran away from the camera in the hopes of capturing action and a red glare, instead of just the white head beam.
