Timberland Soft Shell Full-Zip - Soft Shells: Reviews

   Photo: Terry Heffernan

First impression: generic name, not many features. But we decided to give it a chance thanks to its comfy fit, good looks, and the fact that it costs half as much as the most technical jackets here. Final impression: It's a solid jacket for the money. Made with a standard polyester soft-shell outer, it's lined with a thin grid of fleece that lends abit of warmth and wicked away sweat relatively well. Along with a slightly athletic cut, it was just technical enough for nearly everything we did in it, from fly-fishing Montana's trout streams to hiking in Utah's Castle Valley. 13 oz; timberland.com
