The fully-custom, carbon-and-titanium XS can save your ass, literally. One tester spent 19 hours on it—in a single weekend—and was still able to walk afterwards. Indy Fab, an employee-owned boutique builder in Somerville, Massachusetts, is known for its artistry (check the laser-cut lugs) and regularly pulls down awards at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show. But the XS didn't make the cut here because it's pretty; this is a full-on, race-ready machine. Our test frame's short wheelbase (per our request) made for snappy handling and climbing. And the carbon-titanium mix delivered, in one tester's words, "the best combination of pedaling efficiency and road feel I've encountered." 15 lbs;
