Why They're CoolMyriad mesh panels allow huge airflow, yet the pores are tight enough to screen out even the most determined trail dust. The combination proved perfect for a fast-paced desert hike on a 90-degree day. » Teva injected these slip-lasted fast hikers with some running-shoe DNA—in the form of an EVA midsole—then beefed things up with a polyurethane shank. The result? Great shock absorption with decent underfoot protection. » I could jog on trails without stressing my joints, and comfortably clamber up sharp-edged rocky ravines, so long as I wasn't carrying more than 15 pounds or so in my daypack.

Hmmm . . .The outsoles offered great traction going straight uphill, but poor grip on steep descents. » The top two pairs of lace holes are simply punched through the uppers. Eyelets, please?
