THE SELL: A raging speed addict with a bit of stability and improved fit. THE TEST: It's light, flexible, and responsive, with a slightly lower profile (a ten-millimeter heel-to-toe drop) that made us want to pick up the pace. But it's also mildly cushioned and versatile enough to feel smooth during longer, slower workouts. Right out of the box, testers noted, the Wave Elixir delivered step-in comfort and a snug fit that still gives toes room to splay. THE VERDICT: This is one of those everyday training shoes that make you feel faster than you probably are. We were almost as thrilled with it as with the Gear of the Year–winning New Balance 890, but we found it a notch less peppy and smooth. 9.4 oz; 10-mm heel-to-toe drop.
Flex: 4.5
Cushioning: 3.5
Speed: 5
