The insulated Pro Gaiter is unlike any other mountaineering and ice-climbing boot we’ve ever seen. The metal shank in the boot’s midsole ends in a cam like device in the heel that’s attached to a dial. When you want to stiffen up the boot—say, once you’ve finished the approach and are ready to put on your crampons and go vertical—twist the dial on the side with either the included tool or a coin and it cams the shank, making the boot 100% rigid for the climb. Available January 15.
