The Outdoor Program Cooperative was born in 1967 and all students are members. The OP provides information, gear rentals, resources, trips, events and clinics to get students outside. Check out our complete list of the top 25 colleges for Outside readers.
The OP organizes a variety of trips throughout the year locally and nationally. Trips are posted week-to-week and anyone can join in.
Anyone can lead a trip as a Trip Initiator after taking a two-part clinic. Unlike other courses, the OP clinic focuses on leadership and cooperative philosophy rather than certification or training.
Bike Loan Program
The Bike Loan Programs lets students loan a commute-ready bike for a day or term. They even have DIY repair workshops.
Ten former Ducks competed in the London Olympics, including world record holder in the decathlon Ashton Eaton.
Outdoor Pursuits Program
In addition to the Outdoor Program, the university's Outdoor Pursuits Program has a selection of courses—like backpacking and weightlifting—available for credit.
Outdoor Leadership Training
The Outdoor Pursuits Program offers a 28-credit program designed to provide training and experience in safe and responsible leadership of outdoor activities.
The Wilderness Survival course is the gateway into the university's other outdoor courses and teaches the basics of outdoor ethics, survival and navigation.
After completing the entry-level Wilderness Survival Course, students can choose from 20 other outdoor course offerings.
