I’ve been to Key West and it’s great, but I’m looking for an undiscovered island alternative in Florida. What are my options?

A:

I don’t think there’s a patch of island bigger than a postage stamp in Florida that would qualify as “undiscovered,” but there are definitely alternatives to Key West that are much quieter and less trammeled. These three destinations, all off the state’s Gulf Coast, immediately come to mind. Each one has an unspoiled vibe that makes it easy to slip into island time.
