Q:

The Best Road Races in New England: Mount Washington Road Race

I’ll be in Boston this summer and I’m a decent runner. What are some fun and competitive road races I should consider entering?

A:You don’t run the 7.6-mile race up the auto road on 6,288-foot Mount Washington, New Hampshire, for time. You run it simply to finish. From start to end, you gain 4,600 grueling feet in elevation, and the temperature can drop 40 degrees along the way. This year's race is on June 16. Entry is by lottery only.
