Kiteboarding Across a Dry Lake

Somewhere in Oregon

Armed with a pair of sandals and a serious dose of courage, my buddy Andy Feuling set out on what he called "an experiment." Success entailed not falling—and having the kiteboarding ride of his life. But no one envied his mile-long walk back to camp across a dry lake in eastern Oregon. Feuling later explained that he couldn't control where he went and decided to stop when he could barely see camp behind him.
