Felonious Monkeys: Baboons On a Crime Spree

South Africa has to deal with a new type of criminal: baboons who have learned to open car doors and go through windows in search of food, the AP reports. A band of 29 baboons have gone after four cars in Simon's Town looking for something to eat. The animals associate humans with food, and tourists visiting Cape Town don't help matters much. The 2010 Soccer World Cup will be held in Cape Town, which could exacerbate the problem with a huge influx of tourists. "Tourism is going to go through the roof, and this equals exposure tonaive people and rich pickings," said Justin O' Riain, who studies baboons at the University of Cape Town. "People who stop the car, they're going to get raided."
