Hybrid Humvee

If you're not in the military, driving a Humvee can be considered a waste of gas, but lovers of the all-terrain vehicle can soon start thinking green. EnerDel is teaming up with the U.S. Army to develop four possible lithium-ion battery systems to power the Humvee. The company has 18 months to design and test these batteries in "extreme performance simulations," CNET reports.

If you're more into motorcycles, check out Eric Hansen's report on the greenest motorcycle race in the world here.
