Kayaking Contest: EddyFlower Vertical Challenge

Bradludden

The First Descents' EddyFlower Vertical Challenge kicks off today. Founded by kayaker Brad Ludden, First Descents is a nonprofit that raises funds to send young adults with cancer to adventure camps.

For the EddyFlower comp, teams and individuals get 32 days to drop through as much vertical as they can while kayaking. All donations raised from the event will go to First Descents.

You don't need to be a pro kayaker to participate. The comp is open to all skill levels, and it's divided into East and West divisions. The eastern comp runs March 15 to April 15, and the western comp runs May 15 to June 15. Prizes will go to the team and individual who drop the most vertical as well as those who collect the most donations for First Descents. Winners will score kayaking trips and gear, among other prizes.

Check out eddyflower.com for more info.
