Skiing and Snowboarding

On the Road for 2 Years, 5 Winters

There has been no better series about the making of an adventure movie than Sweetgrass Productions' 12-episode collection On the Road. The Colorado-based crew chronicled all the stink, snow, and blood that went into making the ski flick Solitaire by narrating viewers through South American expedition after South American expedition. Nothing was off limits, not the discussion of death, the injuries from botched landings, or the logistical missteps that put them out of sorts in their two-year search for powder below the equator.

They ended up with the perfect explanatory compliment to a film that relied on little more than stunning cinematography and the words of Joseph Conrad to move the soul. The final episode of On the Road, titled Two Years, Five Winters, came out on Thursday. It's not a let down in any way, and offers a surprise at the end that will have fans looking forward to September 2013.
