Woman Saves Choking Bear

Early this month, a Wisconsin woman stuck her hand down a black bear's throat to save the bear from choking, The Lakeland Times reports.

Patricia Torres, 47, woke up at 5:30am to hear a sow in distress just outside her bedroom window. The bear was choking on a cow bone Torres bought for her dog. Torres called the Sheriff's Department, but decided to take matters into her own hands when the bear became unresponsive. She put on leather gloves, reached into the bear's mouth and extracted the bone.

A member of the Department of Natural Resources showed up just as the bear was coming around. He instructed Torres and her fiance to leave until the mama bear gathered her cubs and moseyed off.
