Man Wakes Up, Finds Crocodile Under His Bed

Spent the night inches from its face

Guy Whittal, former cricketer and current director of the Humani lodge in Zimbabwe, was recently quite startled to find an 8-foot crocodile hidden under his bed, mere inches from where he slept.

The 330-pound reptile had snuck into the lodge during the early hours of the night and managed to remain hidden for 8 hours. The crocodile was only later discovered by one of the housemaids. Whittal ran to enlist the aid of the other employees and together they were able to rope and subdue the creature.

“The really disconcerting thing about the whole episode," Whittal told the DailyMail, “is the fact that I was sitting on the edge of the bed that morning, bare foot and just centimeters away from the croc.”

No harm came to the crocodile and it was released back into the wild.

North Dakota Hits Record Oil Production

Lowest unemployment in the U.S.

North Dakota set record highs in oil and natural gas production for the month of July, according to state resource officials. A record number of wells, 9,322, were also in production in July, another all-time high.

According to Lynn Helms, director of North Dakota’s Industrial Comission, the surge in production came from a the completion and activation of 149 wells over the month of June. The NDIC placed July oil and natural gas production at 108,258 barrels per day, and 970 million cubic feet per day, respectively.

North Dakota is currently second behind Texas in natural resource production in the United States. The oil boom has also gifted North Dakota with the lowest unemployment rate in the country and according to the U.S. Geological Survey, there may still be as much as 6.7 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 7.4 billion barrels of oil under the ground.
