Driver Swerves to Avoid Moose, Hits Bear

Is deemed extremely unlucky

Moose On The Loose

A Norwegian driver who swerved to avoid hitting a moose ended up crashing into a bear instead, wildlife officials said Thursday. The unidentified driver was traveling down a country road late on Wednesday night when he saw a moose in the headlights, but failed to notice the nearby bear. "The driver had lost a bit of speed as he tried to avoid the moose before hitting the bear," said Svein-Erik Björke of the local wildlife authority. "We are tracking the bear and we have found traces of blood." The driver escaped uninjured. Norway is home to some five million people, 100,000 moose, and 150 brown bears.
