A New Jersey ski resort has sued its insurance company for failing to pay out a policy that covers extreme cases of poor weather. Mountain Creek Resort, Inc. claims that it is entitled to $1.7 million from a 16-day stretch of warm weather in December that prevented the area from making snow. The mountain's insurer, Everest Indemnity Insurance Company, disputes the number of days during which temperatures stayed above the policy's 33-degree threshold. The suit is expected to affect how ski resorts manage insurance policies as weather patterns across North America become increasingly unpredictable.
