Crashes, Records at Tour of Flanders



The 2012 Tour of Flanders saw Belgian rider Tom Boonen take his third-career win as pre-race favorite Fabian Cancellara fractured his collarbone in four places in a crash. Cancellara, the reigning Olympic time trial champion, hit a water bottle and underwent surgery Monday. Rogue Sailor Andhoy Arrested in Chile



On Saturday, self-proclaimed "viking" sailor Jarle Andhoy and his crew on the yacht Nilaya were detained by Chilean authorities as he returned from an illegal voyage to the Antarctic. All crew members were reportedly alive and well after they were taken into custody for giving a false name for the yacht over the radio. Ultrarunner Micah True Found Dead



Police found ultrarunner Micah True dead on Saturday, four days after he went missing in the Gila National Forest. He was 58 years old. Authorities said his body showed no sign of obvious injury, and that it would likely be retrieved on Sunday. True was the race director of the Copper Canyon Ultramarathon, and gained fame after he was featured in Christopher McDougall's book Born to Run. Read more at Yahoo News.

Tiger Expert Varty Injured in Attack



John Varty, a conservationist and filmmaker known for his work with tigers, is recovering after a mauling in South Africa on Wednesday evening. Varty, 61, was reportedly working with a film crew on an experimental reserve he created to raise semi-wild tigers in Africa. Varty's brother reported on Friday that Varty was recovering from multiple puncture wounds and broken ribs and was "progressing well." Apollo 11 Engines Found in Ocean



Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has announced plans to recover one or more of Apollo 11's engines from the floor of the Atlantic Ocean. Bezos discovered the engines, which powered Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the moon and have been underwater for more than 40 years, through a privately funded deep sea sonar mission.
