Help Outside Fix the World

Send us your nominees for a special roundup of people and organizations that are making a difference and you could make our December issue.

By: @alexheard)

Ever wonder where your money really goes when you give to a beloved charity? In the wake of the Greg Mortenson controversy, would-be philanthropists everywhere are wrestling with this issue. That’s why Outside is stepping up to provide our first comprehensive Guide to Giving. At a time when we’ve got more than a tough few problems to contend with here on Earth, our December 2011 issue will shine a light on innovative thinkers and doers in the fields that most captivate Outside readers—everything from global environmentalism to ocean restoration to energy solutions to urban design to projects in far-off lands.

Tell us about innovative people and organizations whose good works have impressed you and you could make our December issue. Email us at fixtheworld@outsidemag.com

yeah, definitely Surfrider Foundation for me. They do such a great job of protecting our coastlines and beaches and making sure our oceans are protected. Every week I get their weekly SOUPnwhich keeps me informed about enviornmental issues and up to date on the safety of our beaches. Way to go Surfrider Foundation.

I agree...Surfrider Foundation and Surfing the Nations are my 2 favorite related causes. Surfrider's Soup is always enlightening and provocative (example..shark jumps into boat- yikes) Surfing the Nations helps build awareness of a different kind- helping to change lives lost to drugs, alcohol, abuse and more to feeding the hungry, turning old buildings into community places for surfers and non surfers to congregate- awareness on a different level.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute is an excellent candiate for all the data that they have collected, discoveries made, and contributions they have made keeping tabs on our oceans.
