OFFICE CULTURE
The open floor plan and casual work space—lounges, Ping Pong, common kitchen and eating areas—along with the added benefit of the location of the office a block from the beach make it an ideal place to go to every day.

FLEXIBLE HOURS
We do not have defined flex-time, but we do encourage informal flexible hours so that employees can go out and enjoy where they live. Employees show up to work with surfboards over briefcases.

FITNESS BENEFITS
Lockers, shower facility, and a location one block to the beach make the office a great jumping off point to walking, running, playing volleyball, or paddling. The back patio offers a basketball court, Ping Pong, and, of course, a unicycle. Also, as an employee, you can go down to the harbor and paddle/kayak for free.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
Individuals may volunteer for an organization or cause they believe in with the approval of a supervisor. As a company we organized a monthly creek clean up and are working with our local Creeks Council on restoring native plants to the embankment. We also send Toad volunteers on Search for Adventure (SFA) trips. This is an adventure travel program that takes developmentally disabled adults on real vacations to places like the Appalachian Trail or a Colorado dude ranch. Most volunteer efforts are paid. We also consistently volunteer for the West Side Boys and Girls Club, Direct Relief International, and Santa Barabara Dyslexic and Blind.

GREEN INITIATIVES
We use organic cotton, recycled polyester and eco-friendly cellulosic fibers in our products. We also use recycled metal zippers. We are on a continuous path to increase the use of more sustainable fibers season to season. In our Fall 2010 collection, ninety-nine percent of our products are made with some or all of the fibers mentioned above. Since 2006, Horny Toad has bought Renewable Energy Credits (RECS) from green-E certified wind farms to offset all the energy used in our offices and stores. We also offset daily travel of the Toads, including the road-tripping sales force. Last year we worked with the SB Alt Transportation to create a bike challenge. We also placed bike racks in front of the offices and obtained a company electric bike. In addition, we have made sure all employees have access to bike and sneaker pro deals.

EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION
On a small ship we all need to paddle. Therefore, we do our best to recognize the hard work put forth by every individual. Every month at the All Toad meeting we have three awards given for Above and Beyond, Spirit, and Leadership. During the meeting these recognition awards come as verbal praise. We also have the random 'thank you' awards, which consist of everything from fresh flowers to chocolate to gift certificates for a local eatery. We have found that a little 'thank you' for the hard work goes a long way.
