They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but let this desert adventure be one you talk about for years to come. After all, it’s not every weekend that you get to pedal alongside five-time Tour de France champion Miguel Indurain under the neon lights of the Las Vegas strip with a police escort. And that’s just the beginning.
You and your 1,500 fellow pedalers will head out into the Vegas Valley for a 104-mile out-and-back cruise with 4,000 feet of climbing. You’ll take in the majestic vistas of Red Rock Canyon and enjoy the cool vibe around Lake Mead. The fun starts before sunup, at 5 a.m., with most riders making it back into town before noon.
A portion of the proceeds from the ride go to local nonprofits, which you can get to know over burgers and beers at the after-party. While you’re in Sin City that weekend, also be sure to check out the bike industry’s premier trade show, Interbike, a must-visit for your inner bike geek.
The Gran Fondo Pinarello is held in September.
