If Silicon Valley startup Lytro’s new camera is as revolutionary as the hype suggests it is, you may never have to worry about focusing again. By the end of this year, the company plans to release a consumer model that will capture as much information as possible about the field of light it senses. Then, using advanced software and algorithms to sift through all the data, it will not only refocus photos after they’ve been taken but also convert them from 2-D to 3-D. One thing seems likely: you’ll never take a blurry shot of a bald eagle again.
