Brooks’ first-ever piece of apparel is as classic and lust-inspiring as its line of iconic leather saddles. Sewn from wind- and waterproof densely-woven cotton and lined with a custom pattern of wool tweed that’s treated with nanotechnology for water resistance, the Criterion Mk1 jacket is the ultimate urban commuter piece. The sleeves and back are cut for the riding position, a host of pockets (10 on the men’s version; eight on the women’s) keep your things dry beneath neatly designed storm flaps, a fold-out drop tail repels road spray, and hidden wool cuffs with thumb loops extend for extra warmth on chilly days. The Mk1 is sold under the John Boultbee label to avoid infringement issues with suit-maker Brooks Brothers, but with custom brass buttons and a unique bronze D-ring on the lapel that mimic the rivets and under-seat clip in the bike-makers saddles, there’s no mistaking this jacket’s heritage. Only 500 Criterions will be produced, so you’d best start saving up the $1,400 you’ll need to secure one.

Seriously? This made top 5? Clearly the gin & tonics were flowing at the Brooks booth... You guys really need new cycling editors, because the bike commentary is getting a bit ridiculous.

Here in America this incredible jacket can now be found at Bench & Loom. No sales tax either in 49 states. I highly recommend watching the video. Very impressive. This is one of those items you justify by "price per wear" over the lifetime. Here's the link: http://www.benchandloom.com/shop

Looks a whole lot like the top of the Jump Suit my Dad wore when he jumped into Framce in 1944.

Awesome looking coat. But on a bicycle? What does this look like the Netherlands?
