The 6 Best Snowboard Boots of 2013

A pair of ill-fitting boots can make the greatest board-and-binding setup just feel wrong. Focus first on the lacing system: make sure the boot hugs your foot in all the right places. If you’re uncomfortable, your day on the hill will be short. Then test the flex. Soft is best for freestyle, medium lends itself to all-mountain riding, and stiff is for freeriders, who need maximum response and support. A quality snowboard shop, like Peak Sports in Crested Butte, Colorado, which hosted our snowboard test, will heat-mold your liners for the best possible support. To pick the six top boots of 2013, we had 30 testers put their piggies on the line.

BEST DURABILITY AND SUPPORT

The key to the Infuse’s secure feel is a three-part closure system that includes traditional laces, a BOA dial, and a removable power strap up top. It was easily the most supportive boot we tested. The only downside: a sturdy leather boot like this takes longer to break in.
