A pair of ill-fitting boots can make the greatest board-and-binding setup just feel wrong. Focus first on the lacing system: make sure the boot hugs your foot in all the right places. If you’re uncomfortable, your day on the hill will be short. Then test the flex. Soft is best for freestyle, medium lends itself to all-mountain riding, and stiff is for freeriders, who need maximum response and support.
