The 6 Best Winter Gloves of 2013

If you ski mostly in wet snow, like the stuff in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, then you need something waterproof. In drier climes, like the Central Rockies, a water-resistant soft-shell glove should suffice. The more leather it has, the more waterproof it’s going to be. The downside is that it won’t breathe well, which is why you see so many hybrid gloves, with palms made from leather and everything else done in a soft-shell fabric. A glove with a long insulated cuff will provide an extra barrier from the elements, but it may bunch and get in the way. Of course, the most important factor is fit. If your fingers crash into the tips, or your knuckles pinch into the fabric when you grab your pole, your hands are going to get cold, regardless of how much your gloves cost.

Find the Best

Unlike most gloves with removable liners, the Luminary has a fleecy interior layer and a lined exterior layer, and both function independently as finished gloves. The result is the perfect adaptable solution for ski touring.
