Sasha DiGiulian Climbs Pure Imagination

18-year-old first U.S. woman up 5.14d

Sasha DiGiulian became the first American woman to climb a 5.14d route on Saturday when she ascended Pure Imagination in Kentucky's Red River Gorge on her sixth try. She is only the third-ever person to successfully climb Pure Imagination. "Amazing route, totally on edge climbing up a beautiful line!" DiGiulian wrote on her log book. DiGiulian, who turns 19 this week, was first overall at the IFSC World Championships in July.
