Rhino Horn Shipment Seized in Hong Kong

Customs agents find ivory worth $2.2 million

Customs agents in Hong Kong on Monday seized $2.2 million in smuggled ivory, including rhino horns, the most valuable shipment of poached goods ever intercepted on the island. The horns came from five different endangered species in a container marked as scrap plastic and shipped from South Africa. Rhino populations across Africa are currently threatened, and the seizure comes less than a week after the Western Black rhino was declared extinct
