IOC Fires Staff in Embezzlement Scandal

Finance department workers "negligent"

The International Olympic Commitee has fired three staff members for their roles in an embezzlement scandal at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IOC found that the finance department negligent in their accounting after a probe revealed that the former manager of the museum's gift shop, Hiroshi Grieder, had stolen as much as $1.85 million over the course of a decade. Grieder has since been arrested and charged with embezzlement.
