Cyclist Tony Martin Injured in Crash
World champ hospitalized in Switzerland
German cyclist Tony Martin was is awaiting surgery in Switzerland after colliding with a car yesterday on a training ride and fracturing his left jaw and cheekbone. Martin, 26, is the reigning world time trial champion and rides for team Omega Pharma-Quickstep. On April 1, Martin's main competition for Olympic time-trial gold, Fabian Cancellara, shattered his collarbone in a crash at the Tour of Flanders. Martin was unconscious for 15 minutes following the accident and says he has little idea what may have happened. He is expected to undergo surgery next week.
