Last November, Kyle Dempster headed off to China's Sichuan province and ended up with two first ascents. He and Bruce Normand bagged the 20,919-foot Mount Grosvenor, including a first ascent of the central couloir on the mountain's west face. Then the two climbers nailed the first ascent of the east face of Mount Edgar. That accomplishment earned Dempster and Normand their second consecutive nomination for the Piolet d'Or.
Black Diamond posted the video of the Mount Grosvenor climb today, and plans on releasing the Mount Edgar video tomorrow. If Mount Edgar sounds familiar, it's because in 2009 the mountain claimed the lives of Jonny Copp, Micah Dash, and Wade Johnson. In the upcoming video, Dempster will talk about the effects of climbing on such an active and dangerous mountain.
