Why I Am Climbing Mt. Everest

Many readers of Outside Online's Blog have seen my posts for a couple of years. You may have seen my byline at the end of each post

Arnette is a speaker, mountaineer and Alzheimer's Advocate. He is climbing the 7 Summits throughout 2001. He has summited Vinson and Aconcagua already and leaves for Everest in late March. All to raise $1 million for Alzheimer's research. You can read more on his site.

But still wonder who is this guy, is he an Outside empoyee, a regular reporter, just what is his story?

As I finalize my preparations to climb Everest in less than two weeks, I created this brief video that may help answer these questions.

I will be posting updates during my Everest expedition both on Outside and my own site. I hope you follow but more than that, I hope you make a donation to support Alzheimer's causes where 100% goes to the cause and zero to me or my climbing expenses. The links are on my site.

Climb on!

Alan
