Elite U.S. marathoner Ryan Hall has set his sights on the Chicago marathon this October, and says he has one goal: to break the American record of 2:05:38. Chicago is a flat and fast course, and the venue for previous American and even world record times. Hall has run 2:06:17 before—at London in 2008—which was the second fastest time ever for an American. After finishing third in Boston, fourth in New York, and 10th in the Olympics, Hall has yet to win a major open marathon, but clearly has the potential to do so in a big way. The stage: Chicago?
