U.S. Government Backs Tuna Ban

After some delay, the Obama administration has decided to back the international fishing ban on bluefin tuna, according to grist.org. Now viewed as a potential endangered species, the big blue fish is garnering support around the globe. Monaco intitially proposed the fishing ban on the fish and has led the way in an international fight to protect it. Japan, the world's largest consumer of bluefin, has shown resistance to the ban. The fate of this fish, among others, will be  determined at the Convention on International Trade on Endangered Species (CITES)
