Getting to the Philippeans

As the country begins to reopen, we'll keep publishing news to help you navigate the state of travel today (like whether travel insurance covers the coronavirus), as well as stories about places for you to put on your bucket list once it's safe to start going more far-flung.

Philippine Airlines (800-435-9725; www.philippineair.com) flies directly from Los Angeles to Manila for about $868 round-trip; airfare from New York is about $1,031 round-trip. Expect to pay about $140 for one-way in-country flights.

Visas: Americans can stay up to 21 days in the Philippines without a visa. Fifty-nine-day visas cost $30 and are available at the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C., or at consulates in Chicago, Honolulu, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco.
