    Jackson Hole, Wyoming

From the 40-degree pitches of Corbet's Couloir to the sidecountry lines on Cody Peak, Jackson Hole is much now easier to reach. Last year, United and Delta added direct flights from San Francisco, Newark, and Minneapolis. This year, Delta adds flights from JFK, Seattle, and Los Angeles, while United goes direct from Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles, and American provides service from Dallas.

    Steamboat, Colorado

With nine departure points offering flights to Hayden Airport, just 30 minutes from Steamboat, the resort's famed tree skiing (Twilight and Triangle Three are our faves) and ranch-town vibe were already an easy get for most. This year, Alaska Airlines flies twice a week from Seattle, too.

    Mammoth Mountain, California

This year, Alaska Airlines adds a $69 flight from San Diego, which joins other nonstops to Mammoth departing from LAX, San Francisco, and Orange County. Also new this year: the reopening of family-friendly June Mountain, offering visitors an additional 2,590 vertical feet of skiing.

    Alta and Snowbird, Utah

Most Utah ski resorts are within an hour of the Salt Lake City airport. Our advice: head to Alta and Snowbird. Both offer a half-price lift ticket and free shuttle service from the airport within 24 hours of arrival. Then lap the 'Bird's new Gad 2 chairlift, which cuts the time to some of the mountain's steepest terrain in half.

    Stowe and Sugarbush, Vermont

With $150 flights from New York City, Burlington International Airport—45 minutes from Stowe and an hour from Sugarbush—makes Vermont among the cheapest ski destinations on the East Coast. That means you'll have cash to splurge on a massage at Stowe Mountain Lodge or an early-morning cat ride for first tracks at Sugarbush.
